Yutaka Ishii was born on February 27, 1920 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He attended Chukyo Shogyo high school and signed with Tsubasa in 1940, appearing in 67 games at first base and batting .191. The following year with Taiyo he hit .179 in 87 games with two homeruns and 22 RBIs.

Ishii played just 1 game in 1942 before entering military service. He died in combat.
